November 2006

Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history.
This month's story :-

William Henry Coltman was born at Rangemore, Burton upon Trent on 17th November 1891.
Aged 26 he enlisted in the North Staffordshire Regiment as a non-combatant stretcher bearer because his religious convictions would not allow him to take a life. This was not an act of cowardice because by the end of the war this gallant soldier had become the most decorated N.C.O. of the conflict. (V.C., D.CM. and Bar, M.M. and Bar).
After the war Bill Coltman returned to live in Burton until his death in 1974.
